In 1940 Selim Grigorievich graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Kiev State University, after which he graduated from the postgraduate school.
In 1941-1951 Selim Grigorievich was a researcher at the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1952-1954, he was the Head of the department of higher mathematics at the Krivoy-Rog Mining Institute. In 1954-1961 and 1971-1997 Selim Grigorievich was the Head of the department of higher mathematics of the Voronezh Forestry Institute and in 1961-1971, the Head of the department of partial differential equations and probability theory. In 1967 he became the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Voronezh State University.
Selim Grigorievich was an author of about 190 papers on functional analysis, mathematical problems of hydrodynamics.
