In 1983 he finished 10 grades of the Moscow secondary school No. 763
From 1989 to 1993 he worked as an engineer of the Scientific and Production Association of Measuring Equipment in Kaliningrad, Moscow Region.
He had been working for RSC Energia as an engineer since August 30, 1993.
On April 2, 1996 by Order of RSA General Director No. 42 he was enlisted in the cosmonaut detachment of RSC Energia as a test cosmonaut candidate.
On June 17, 1988 by decision by the Interdepartmental Qualification Commission (IDQC) he was qualified as a test cosmonaut;
From October 1998 to October 1999 he passed training in the cosmonaut team under the ISS program.
From 9 July 1998 to 21 January 2011 he became a test cosmonaut of the 291st Division in RSC Energia.
От January 22, 2011 he was enlisted as a test cosmonaut in the detachment of “Gagarin Research & Test Cosmonaut Training Center."
In 2011 Revin was included in the backup crew of the Soyuz TMA-22 spacecraft together with Gennady Padalka and Joseph Aqaba.
From December 2011 he had been training in the ISS-31/32 main crew as a flight engineer together with Gennady Padalka and Joseph Aqaba.
