Sergey Avdeev was born on January 1, 1956 in Chapaevsk, Kuibyshev region, RSFSR (now Chapaevsk, Kuibyshev region, Russian Federation).

Education

1962 - 1973 - he studied at high schools №155, №144 and №54 in Kuibyshev. Finished 10 grades of physical and mathematical school with a commendable letter.

In 1979 he graduated from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI), with a specialization in «Experimental Nuclear Physics», engineer-physicist.

1979 - 1981 - he studied at the Marxism-Leninism University of the Moscow Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union at the faculty of ideological personnel.

In 1986 he graduated from the postgraduate course of MEPhI, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

3rd flight - 3 August 13, 1998 - August 28, 1999 - as the flight engineer of the SC «Soyuz TM-28», «Soyuz TM-29» and the OC «Mir» on the basis of the EO-26 and EO-27 programs (the 26th and 27th main expeditions). Took off with Gennady Padalka and Yuri Baturin on the SC «Soyuz TM-28». Landed together Victor Afanasyev and Jean-Pierre Haigneré.
