1989 – finished high school №30 in Sevastopol;
From 1989 to 1992 - studied at the Chernigov Higher Air Force Academy;
1992 - was transferred to the Kachin Higher Air Force Academy, which he graduated from with honors in 1994 with a specialization in «Command tactical aviation» granting the qualification of «Pilot-engineer».
From 1994 to 1997 - studied at the Air Force Academy named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky, which he graduated from with a specialization in «The checkout of an aircraft» granting the qualification of «Pilot, research-engineer»;
From 2006 to 2010 - studied at the Russian Presidential Academy of Public Administration and graduated with honors with a specialization in «Jurisprudence» granting the qualification of «Lawyer».
2014 – presented a thesis for a degree of Doctor of technical sciences at the Air Force Academy named after professor N.E. Zhukovsky and Y.A. Gagarin.
After graduation from the academy of N.E. Zhukovsky - served in the Air Force units as a pilot, senior pilot; Since 1998 - served as the senior pilot-instructor of aerobatics air group «Sky hussars» of the Air Force Aviation Technology Show Center at the airbase Kubinka, Moscow Region.
September 12, 2002 – received a positive resolution (admission to special trainings) at the meeting of the Main Medical Board (MMB);
May 29, 2003 - at the meeting of the Interdepartmental Commitee for Selection of cosmonauts enrolled in the cosmonaut corps of the Russian State Research and Testing Cosmonaut Training Center (RSR CTC) named after Y.A. Gagarin for general cosmonaut training;
July 5, 2005 - qualified as «cosmonaut-tester».
From June, 2003 to July, 2005 – received general space training;
July, 2005 – qualified as «cosmonaut-tester»;
From July, 2008 to November, 2009 – was trained in a backup crew of ISS-22/23 as the commander of the transport manned spacecraft (TMS) «Soyuz TMA» and as the ISS flight engineer;
From December, 2009 to March, 2011 - was preparing for a space flight in a backup crew of ISS-27/28 as the commander of the transport manned spacecraft «Soyuz TMA» and as the ISS flight engineer;
From April to September, 2011 - was trained in the main crew of ISS-29/30 as the commander of the transport manned spacecraft «Soyuz TMA» and as the ISS flight engineer;
From January, 2013 to May, 2014 - prepared for the space flight as a part of the backup crew of ISS-40/41 as the commander of the transport manned spacecraft «Soyuz TMA-M» and as the ISS flight engineer;
From June to November, 2014 - was trained in the main crew of ISS-42/43 as the commander of the transport manned spacecraft «Soyuz TMA-M» and as the ISS flight engineer.
