Li Shan-jen was a student at Shanxi University from 1902 to 1905 after which he went to Japan and became a studied at Ching Wei College. He graduated from it in 1908. Mr. Li again went to Japan in 1912 and studied at the High Industrial College of Nagoya.
Mr. Li returned to China and taught in the Shanxi Higher Agricultural College. He went to Japan again in 1912 and studied at the High Industrial College of Nagoya. lI Shan-jen returned to China in 1917 and since then held the following positions: teacher of Shanxi High Commercial College, teacher at Shanxi First Girls Normal School, secretary at the Shanxi Police Administration, sectional chief at the Shanxi Civil Governor's Office, co-director of the Shanxi Epidemics Prevention Office, president of Provincial First "A" Grade Industrial School, president of the Provincial Government Industrial College of Shanxi etc.
He was known to be a member of the Shanxi Provincial Assembly, Shanxi delegate to the National Educational Conference and vice-president of the Shanxi Educational Association. Li Shan-jen served as a Shanxi delegate to the 9th and the 10th National Educational Convention in 1923-1924. Mr. Li was a chief of the Political Department in the headquarters of the Garrison Commander of Peking and Tianjin. In 1928 he was appointed director of the Financial Bureau of the Tianjin Municipal Government. Later Mr. Li became a member of the Shanxi Provincial Government and concurrently director of Department of Industry and Commerce.
