He graduated from Forestry Department of Tokyo University (1938).
He served at Akita Regional Forestry Office and then as director of Shirosawa, Mamurokawa and Aomori Regional Forestry Offices, chief of Sagyo-ka (Execution Section) of Kumamoto Regional Forestry Office and later at Forestry Bureau of Agriculture & Forestry Ministry.
He became chief of Business Department and then director (1948) of Akita Regional Forestry Office. Elected member of Japan Science Council (1951) and the same year transferred to Forestry Agency as chief of its Business Department and became director of the agency (since 1952).
