Shigeho Tanaka was born in 1879 in Kochi Prefecture, Japan.
He was an assistant professor at his alma mater and later became a foll-fledged professor. He retired (1939) and took to writing scientific tracts on amphibious animals and fish on which he is considered a specialist. Became instructor at Kochi University (1952). Some of his works: "An Outline of Fish Science", "The Fishes of Lake Biwa" and "Schoolroom of Zoology".
