Shogoro Tsuboi was born on the 5th of January, 1863 in Ryogoku, Tokyo.
Shogoro Tsuboi entered Tokyo University to study biology in 1883.
Shogoro Tsuboi established the Society of Anthropology with his friends. In 1886 he started publishing the "Anthropological Report" (presently known as the Journal of the Anthropological Society of Nippon).
While yet a student he was inspired by the research of Dr. Morse of his university and began taking interest in anthropology. He was nominated member of the English Anthropological Society (1892), professor at Tokyo University, member of Academy and honorary member of Berlin Anthropological Society.
Shogoro Tsuboi was sent to St. Petersburg to represent Japan at the 5th International Academician Conference where he died. Is the author of several works on Japan’s primitive people.
