So Yoshitomo was born in 1568.
So Yoshitomo served Hideyoshi Toyotomi. In 1590, he advised Hideyoshi on relations with Korea and accompanied Korean envoys when they were received by Hideyoshi. For the merit, he was given the rank of jiju (chamberlain) and the family name of Hashiba.
In Hideyoshi's Korean invasion, he spearheaded the Japanese expeditionary forces and fought in many areas in Korea. In the Sekigahara Battle (1600), he fought under Mitsunari Ishida in the Toyotomi Camp and attacked Fushimi Castle. Ieyasu Tokugawa, however, pardoned him and permitted him to keep the lordship over Tsushima.
In 1604, Priest Shoun of Korea came to Tsushima on behalf of his government and asked that Korean war prisoners be repatriated. Yoshitomo persuaded Ieyasu to consent to the request. The Korean Government appreciated Sukekuni's good offices and the relations between the two countries improved. Ieyasu also appreciated his merit and increased his fief to 100,000 koku.
In the Osaka Winter Campaign (1614), he fought on Ieyasu's side.
