Raised on a cattle ranch, Agnes Morley was sent to Stanford University to learn to be a lady. Yet in no time she exchanged her breeches and spurs for bloomers and a basketball, and in April 1896 she made history. In a heart-pounding game against the University of California at Berkeley, Agnes led her team to victory in the first-ever intercollegiate women's basketball game, bringing national attention to women's basketball.

Sue Macy graduated from Princeton University, earning her Bachelor of Arts in 1976.
In 1976-1978 Mrs. Macy served as a research coordinator at Scholastic, Inc., New York City. From 1978 to 1980 she was an assistant, then associate editor at Scholastic Newstime. Mrs. Macy was appointed editor, then associate editorial director at math magazines between 1983 and 1988, during 1991-1994 she was an editorial director at science and math magazines.
Since 1994 she worked as a project editor, scholastic reference. During the period of 1980-1983 Mrs. Macy acted as a full-time freelance writer. In 1988-1990 she was appointed by Fukutake Publishing Ltd., New York City, as an editor-in-chief, Challenge Plus (monthly science magazine).
