Sutesaburo was born in 1867. Son of Seisuke, a retainer of the Aizu Clan (Fukushima Prefecture).

In 1895 Sutesaburo studied at Tokyo University.
Career
Joined the Mitsui Company and later the Shanghai Spinning Co. After the latter firm was amalgamated with the Kanegafuchi Spinning Co. he became its director, managing director, and Vice-president.
