Takeo Shimizu was born in 1890.
He graduated from Tokyo University's Science Department in 1914. Then he studied in Britain in 1921.
He served as professor at Tokyo University from 1941 to 1950 and later as a member of the Science Research Institute.
While studying in Britain, he remodeled Wilson's cloud chamber making it possible to produce uninterrupted observation and photographing of inflated steam. It facilitated experiments on radial and X-rays. For this achievement was awarded the 1924 Crown Prince Marriage Memorial Prize of the Imperial Academy.
