Background
Tamaki Ogawa was born in 1910. He was the fourth son of Dr. Takuji Ogawa and the younger brother of Hideki Yukawa, the world famous nuclear scientist.

Tamaki Ogawa entered the educational field and was in turn instructor at Tohoku University in 1939. In the next year he became an assistant professor. And in the end of 1940's he already was a professor. He was professor at his alma mater since 1950 and obtained a doctorate for his research in the history of the novel.
