He was a student at the Ibaraki Middle School. Tanaka Yoshio was first noticed while he was still a student at the Ibaraki Middle School. Coming to Tokyo to attend the Tokyo Higher Normal School, from where he graduated, his swimming prowess became still more noticeable.
