Teh-hsun Chin

Background

Mr. Chin was born in Szu-hsui, Shandong, China.

Education

Chin Teh-hsun graduated from the Baoding Military Academy and the Peking Military College.

Career

Mr. Chin entered army service in 1919 and was since served successively as chief-of-staff to the Occupation Commissioner of East Henan, chief-of-staff to the Commander of the 14th Division and concurrently Commander of a cavalry regiment. He was promoted Commander of the 47th Brigade. In 1925 Chin Teh-hsun was appointed Commander of the 1st Army of the Allied Armies and was soon transferred to the post as Commander of 23rd Army and concurrently vice-chief-of-staff of the Second Group Army and concurrently member of the Shandong Provincial Government.

Later Chin Teh-hsun was promoted chief-of-staff of the Second Group Army. He was appointed counsellor to the Provisional Headquarters of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Navy and Air Force in 1931 and soon transferred as counsellor to the Peking Pacification Headquarters and concurrently member of the Standing Committee of the Peking Military Affairs Readjustment Committee and concurrently director of the Educational Bureau. Mr. Chin served as an associate field-commander of the 4th Group Army of the Northern Route Bandit-suppression Forces and was later transferred to the post of associate field-commander of the 3rd Group Army in North China and concurrently member of the Peking Military Affairs Commission.

Chin Teh-hsun was a member and concurrently Commissioner of Civil Affairs of the Chahar Provincial Government. He was promoted acting Chairman of Chahar in June, 1935. He participated in and actively directed the armed resistence against the Japanese invasion of North China in 1933 as vice-Commander-in-Chief of the 29th Army, of which General Sung Chi-yuan was a Commander. Since November, 1935, Mr. Chin acted as a Mayor of Peking.
