She received from Brown University a B.A. in 1967. Then she obtained from Simmons College her M.S.L.S. in 1969 and from the University of Reading an M.A. in 1989.
She worked as a librarian at Denver Public Library, Denver, CO in 1969-1970.Then she was periodicals librarian at Metropolitan State College, Denver from 1970 to 1975. Mood worked for the University of Colorado, Denver as periodicals librarian at Auraria Library between 1975 and 1981, later became language and literature librarian in 1981-1991, then was humanities bibliographer since 1991. She was an English teacher in 1978 and 1979, and an assistant professor. Besides, Mood worked for the Southeast Metropolitan Board of Cooperative Services as a teacher in Adult Education Program between 1977 and 1979.
She has been a member of the American Library Association, Colorado Library Association.
She married John P. Leopold on March 24, 1990.
