Background

Torataro Shimomura was born in Kyoto in 1902.

Education

He graduated from Philosophy Course, Kyoto University (1926). A pupil of Dr. Kitaro Nishida, he studied philosophy and its relationships with mathematics and natural science.

Career

Torataro Shimomura was appointed professor at Tokyo University of Literature and Science, which was later renamed Tokyo Education University. He wrote "Philosophy of the History of Science" and other books.
