Toshio Kitamura graduated from Tokyo University of Science and Literature (1931).
Career
Toshio Kitamura became assistant professor of Kyoto University (1947) and professor of Okayama University (same year) and thereafter was appointed professor of Kyoto University (1950). Achieved much in study of Japanese economic history and historical geography and received degree for his thesis "Historical Study of Habitual Practices in Irrigation and Water Supply in Japan" which further made him recipient of Japan Agriculture Science Prize for 1951. Also included among his works is "Thesis on Economic History of Omi Area."
