Valentin Presniakov was born on October 15, 1877 in the city of Saint Petersburg.
Valentin Ivanovich graduated from St. Petersburg Drama School.
Valentin Ivanovich Presniakov danced for the Mariinsky theatre (1895-1909). He took part in "Russkie sezoni" ("Russian seasons") by S. Diagilev (1909-1910). In 1904-1919 Valentin Ivanovich taught sense of rhythm and stage movement at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory (since 1914 was a professor). He was a teacher in different educational institutions.
After leaving the Mariinsky theatre became a ballet master. Collaborated with V.E. Meyerhold and N.N. Evreinov. In 1919 established The People’s Conservatory in Vitebsk and became its director (1922-1924). In 1922-1938 was a teacher and put on plays in the cities of Odessa and Erevan.
In 1938-1942 Valentin Ivanovich became the first art director of Voronezh Choreographic School. He staged "Swan Lake" of P. Tchaikovsky (together with K.G. Saharova and A.I. Vronsky, 1939), "The Fairy Doll" of J. Bayer (1940), "La Fille mal gardée" of P. Hertel (1941). He was a teacher of amateur dance groups of Voronezh, collaborated with K.I. Massalitinov.
From the occupied by Nazis Voronezh was sent to Germany. Later on lived in Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk (a teacher at the theatre studio), Pskov (since 1950).
