Valentina Ivanovna graduated from Smolensk State Pedagogical Institute (now Smolensk State University) (1936).
Valentina Ivanovna worked at the Kuibyshev State Pedagogical Institute. Since 1943, she worked at Voronezh State University. She headed the department of Russian-Slavic linguistics (1951-1991). Since 1946, she has been collecting and researching Voronezh folk dialects.
On the initiative of Valentina Ivanovna, the annual Slavic readings are held at the philological faculty of Voronezh State University. She is the author of more than 200 scientific works, including 10 monographs and textbooks published in Voronezh: "Lectures on the historical grammar of the Russian language" (1967), "Introduction to Slavic philology" (1979), "Pskov judicial certificate is a monument to the Russian literary language" (1990) and others. Scientific editor of the collection "Materials on Russian-Slavic linguistics" (since 1963).
