Wallace Wilson received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970, and a Master of Fine Arts in 1975 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Since 1979 Wallace Wilson has been an assistant professor in the Art Department of the University of Florida in Gainesville. He has previous teaching experience as an assistant professor in the Art Department of the University of Delaware in Newark (1975-1979) and at the College of Architecture of the University of Kentucky in Lexington (1970-1975).

1992Wallace Wilson is a past committee member of The USF Patel Center for Global Solutions, which offers students, faculty, and community members opportunities to address cutting edge globalization issues. He was the founding Chair of the Board of Directors for Community Stepping Stones - an organization dedicated to utilizing the arts for education and support of at-risk youth in the inner city.
