Studied at King’s College, Cambridge. On leaving school was engaged for some years in newspaper work in the Gallery of the House of Commons and elsewhere.
Entered at the Middle Temple and went to Cambridge, 1887. First in both parts ot the Law Tripos. Awarded a Senior Studentship and the Barstow Law Scholarship by the Council of Legal Education.
Elected Scholar of King’s, Cambridge, 1890. Graduated Bachelor of Laws at London and Bachelor of Arts at Cambridge, and called to the Bar, 1891. Member of the Eighty Club Committee, 1892.
Professor of Law, University of Melbourne, 1892. Constitutional Adviser to the Government of Victoria, 1907. Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Melbourne, since 1892.
