Irinarh (secular name Yakov Dmitrievich Popov) was born in 1790 in Dolgoye, Kursk, Russian Federation.
In 1817 Yakov Dmitrievich became a monk. He was a professor of Church History and Hebrew in Oryol Theological Seminary (1817-1819), Priest at Russian embassies in Milan, Florence, Rome (1819-1831). Irinarh was an Archimandrite of Yaroslavl Tolgsky Monastery (1831-1833), the priest of Russian Embassy in Athens (1833-1835). During his lifetime, Irinarch published several volumes of sermons and instructive words, as well as a historical essay on the Orthodox Church in Greece.
