Yasuda Yoshisada was born in 1134 in Japan. He was the grandson of Yoshimitsu Minamoto.
When Yoritomo Minamoto rose in revolt he proceeded from Kai Province (Yamanashi Prefecture) to Kamakura to help him and on the way met and defeated the forces led by Gore Matano (1180). He was created Lord of Totomi (1183) and the following year distinguished himself again in defeating the combined armies of Tsunemasa Taira and Moromori Taira at Ichinotani.
After defeating the combined armies of Tsunemasa Taira and Moromori Taira at Ichinotani, he was exiled to Shimo-osa (Chiba Prefecture) for failing to comply with the order of ex-Emperor Goshirakawa to repair the Inari Shrine (1190). Yasuda Yoshisada was pardoned the following year, but was deposed from his post again because of his son Yoshisuke's complicity in a scandal (1193). The following year he plotted an armed uprising, but the plot came to light and he was executed.
