Yasui Kotaro was proceeded to Edo (now Tokyo) and studied at Nishōgakusha College.
Successively occupied the posts of instructor at Daigakudo at Peking, First Higher School, Bunrika Daigaku (University of Literature and Science) and professor of Daito Bunkagakuin College. He was an authority on Chinese classics. Works include "Lectures on Rongo" (Confucian classics).
