Mr. Teng was a member of Kwang-Yang-Fuchin military affairs commission in 1912, Commander of Fu-k'un Garrison from 1917 till 1920, an assistant adjutant of Generalissimo's Headquarters in 1923, Commander of Kwangtung Provincial Gendarmerie in 1924, Commander of 17th Division of Nationalist Army in 1926, chief of Public Safety Bureau of Canton and later of the entire Kwangtung Province from 1927 till 1928, acting Commander-in-Chief of 5th Route Army in 1928.
He also took positions of Commander of 19th Division of the Nationalist Army in 1928, Commander of 58th Division of the Nationalist Army in 1929, member of Kwangtung Provincial Government and Commissioner of Department of Reconstruction since 1929.
