Yorishige Matsudaira was a Japanese daimyō of the early Edo period, who ruled the Takamatsu Domain. He did much to encourage education, military arts and the repairing of shrines.
Background
Yorishige Matsudaira was born on August 7, 1622 in Tokyo, Japan. He was the first son of Tokugawa Yorifusa, and Tokugawa Mitsukuni was the third son of Tokugawa Yorifusa, the first Tokugawa daimyō of Mito Domain; this made him the grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu.
Career
Yorishige Matsudaira entered the service oi Shogun Iemitsu Tokugawa in 1638 and the following year was granted a fief of 50,000 koku at Shimodate (Ibaraki Prefecture). Later in 1642 he was appointed Castellan of Takamatsu Castle in Kagawa Prefecture, with a fief of 120,000 hoku . He was conferred the title of Sanuki-no-Kami in 1662 and became a priest under the name of Unryuken Gen-ei in 1673.

One of his daughters married Takatsukasa Kanehiro.
