Yury Petrovich worked as a Senior Researcher in 1971-1973, the Head of Department (1974-1978) of the Voronezh Regional Museum of Local Lore. He has been a lecturer since 1981, in 1987-2008 he worked as an Associate Professor at the Department of Archeology and History of the Ancient World, Voronezh State University.
On the territory of Voronezh region he studied the Olkhovatsky burial ground (1973), the burial ground near the village of Krasnoe of the Bobrovsky district (2004), the Tagansky burial ground in the Pavlovsky district (1995-2005) and other monuments.
