Zinaida Fomina was born on January 1, 1954, in the Shelkovskoy District, Chechen Republic, Russian Federation.
In 1976 Zinaida Fomina studied at Voronezh State University, Romance-Germanic philology faculty. From 1971 till 1972 she studied at Chechen State University, Faculty of Foreign Languages in Grozny. From 1972 till 1974 she studied at Voronezh State University, German department of the Romance-Germanic philology faculty. From 1975 till 1976 she studied at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Department of German studies in Halle, Germany. She graduated from Voronezh State University in 1976 (Romance-Germanic philology faculty).
Zinaida Fomina worked as a lecturer of German language at the Voronezh Institute of Technology and Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies. From 1981 till 2002 she worked as a lecturer, associate professor, and head of the Department of German Philology at Voronezh State University. Since 2002 she works as head of the Department of foreign languages of the Voronezh State University for Architecture and Construction.
