Akiyasu Kitabatake was Governor of Ise Province (Mie Prefecture) when Yoshihiro Ouchi raised an army at Sakai (Osaka Prefecture) to attack the Shogun (1399). He was sent to fight Ouchi’s army but was defeated in the first attempt. Mustering his forces he again attacked and this time won a great victory, in rewai'd for whicn he was awarded the district of Koga, Omi Province (Shi Prefecture). Later was appointed general of the Court guards.
