Education
Woldan Alois graduated from the Theological Faculty at the University of Innsbruck in 1978.
Career
Woldan Alois was a trainee of the Philological Faculty of Voronezh State University from 1978 to 1979, his supervisor was P.A. Borozdina). In Moscow, from 1979 till 1980 he was a teacher at the Institute of Foreign Languages . He held the post of Assistant of the Institute of Slavic Studies at the Universities of Innsbruck from 1980 to1982 and Salzburg from 1982 to 1984. Woldan Alois was in a post as an employee of Wroclaw University from 1984 till 1986 in the People's Republic of Poland. He was the professor of the Universities of Salzburg in 1997, Passau since 1998 in the Federal Republic of Germany), Vienna since 2005, where he heads the chair of Slavic literature.
Woldan Alois was the specialist in the field of Russian, Ukrainian, Serbian, Croatian and especially Polish literature. He held the post of Deputy Chairman of the International Association of Ukrainians since 2008. Translator of Polish authors into German.
He is the author of more than 160 scientific works, including 5 books published in Vienna, Krakow, Passau and other cities from 1996 to 2008. During his stay in Voronezh he became interested in A.T. Prasolov, later published articles about him in "Wiener Slavistisches Jahrbuch 31" in1985, "Literary Russia" on the 30 of January 1998), a collection of works by A.T. Prasolov "I Met Your Night" in Moscow, 2003. Published a dedicated I.I. Rostovtseva's article "The Secret Person" in Literaturnaya Gazeta on the 24 of December 2008.
