He worked as a head of the Department of Russian and foreign literature at Borisoglebsky State Pedagogical Institute (1950-1971). He worked as a head of the Department of Russian and Soviet Literature of the Udmurt State University (since 1971).
The main research interests: the problem of the author in fiction, issues of methodology and pedagogy of higher education. His works were published in academic journals abroad.
An author of about 100 scientific works, including books: "Lyrics N.A. Nekrasova" (Voronezh, 1964; Izhevsk, 1978), "Studying the text of a work of literature" (Moscow, 1972), "Lyrics and Realism" (Irkutsk, 1986), "Selected Works. Literature Theory" (Izhevsk, 2006) and others. A complier, a editor and one of the authors of many collected works on the problem of the author in fiction, published in Voronezh (1967-1972) and Izhevsk (since 1974).
