Debora Hunter earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Northwestern University, Chicago (1972), and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Rhode Island School of Design, Providence (1976).
Since 1976 Debora Hunter has been assistant professor of photography at Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. Previously she taught photography at Swain School of Design in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and at Rhode Island School of Design (1975-1976).
In 1973-74 Debora Hunter edited and archived the work of photographer Wallace Kirkland under a research grant from ICP in New York City.
