He graduated from the sculpture department of the Penza Art School (1904, teachers K.A. Savitsky, K.A. Klodt).
Dmitry Andreevich Kolosov was a teacher of drawing in a gymnasium (the city of Biryuch, Voronezh Province, 1905-1909), a real school (the city of Lipetsk, Tambov Province, since 1909), an art studio at Moscow Proletkult (1918-1920). In 1920-1935, he was a teacher of a model school, a city art studio, head of a museum in the city of Lipetsk. In the city of Voronezh since 1935.
He worked on the sculptural design of the regional committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) (1935), created bas-reliefs for the Palace of Pioneers (1937). Since 1943, during restoration work in the city of Voronezh, he performed a bas-relief for the dramatic theater (1945), a number of busts and the statue of the Muse for the interiors of the Proletary cinema (1948).
He was a lecturer of the Voronezh Art School (1939-1941), Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute, Voronezh Civil Engineering Institute (1948-1950). The head of the art studio of the Palace of Pioneers. The participant of the Moscow (1918-1919, 1922, 1926), all-union (1933), republican (1949), Voronezh regional and interregional (since 1933) exhibitions.
He executed sculptural portraits: "The Old Woman" (1919, wood), "The Peasant" (1933, wood), "The Soldier" (1955, wood), "The Bishop of Korolkovo" (1958, gypsum tinted), busts of A.P. Yurgenson, F.M. Korneyev (1941), N.P. Sochneva (1953), S.P. Panova (1954 - all toned gypsum) and other works. Author of a series of drawings of the post-war Voronezh: "Mitrofanovsky Monastery" (1945), "Destroyed Voronezh" (1943, 1945), "Colonnade of the Intercession Church" (1948), "Destroyed building of the Agricultural Art Museum" (1948), and also portraits and landscapes. Kolosov's solo exhibitions took place in the city of Voronezh in 1946, 1953 (together with V.R. Voskresensky), 1963.
Represented at the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy.
