Studied at Cleobury Mortimer School. At age of nineteen came to Birmingham as an assist, to the late Mr. Burdett, of Temple Row.
Licentiate of the Society of Apothecaries (London). Master of Science; Bachelor of Medicine.
Acted as dispenser at the General Hospital, and after curriculum at Sydenham College, qualified 1S6S. Appointed Medical Officer of the Workhouse, 1869, and after eighteen months in this position became Assistant at the Asylum. Appointed Superintendent at East Riding Asylum, Beverly, 1878.
Professor of Queen’s College, and one of the Ingleby Lecturers. President ol the Psychological Association, 1891. Professor of Birmingham University. B.Ch., Medical Superintendent of the Birmingham City Asylum since 1882.
Member Royal College of Surgeons.
Spouse 1878, Emily Jane Blunt,daughter of late Prof. John Clay, of Queen’s Coll.
