In 1962, Evgeniy Ivanovich Gusev graduated from the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute named after N. Pirogov, in 1967 - postgraduate study of the department of neurology of the pediatric faculty of this institute. In the same year, Evgeniy Ivanovich defended his Ph.D., in 1973 - his doctoral dissertation. In 1975 he was awarded the title of professor.
After graduation, Evgeny Ivanovich was the chief doctor of the regional hospital in the Kaluga region (1962-1964). Since 1967, he works in the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute named after N. Pirogova (now - Russian State Medical University): assistant, associate professor, professor of the department of neurology of the pediatric faculty (1967-1974), professor of the department of neurology of the medical faculty (1974-1975). Since 1975, Evgeniy Ivanovich Gusev is the head of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Russian State Medical University.
The most important results of the studies are presented in the monographs "Multiple Sclerosis", "Multiple Sclerosis: from the study of immunopathogenesis to new methods of treatment."
At the initiative of Evgeniy Gusev in 1976 at the Department of Neurology was organized a course of neurosurgery, and in 1978 - a course of improvement for doctors.
Evgeny Ivanovich is the author of more than 200 scientific works, including 2 textbooks and manuals on neurology and neurosurgery.
In 1988, Evgeny Ivanovich was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, in 1991 - a full member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. Since 1992, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Clinical Medicine of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Evgeniy Ivanovich - Chairman of the Board of the All-Russian Society of Neurologists (since 1989), President of the National Association for Stroke, President of the Educational Committee of the All-Russian Society of Neurology, member of the Education Committee World Federation of Neurologists, Corresponding Member of the German Neurological Society, co-director of the American Biographical Association, member of the Committee on State Prizes of the Russian Federation, Committee for Postgraduate Training in Neurology at the World and European Neurological Societies.
Evgeniy Gusev is very dedicated to his career and studies. He devoted all his live to medical sciences and achived great success, but he's never forgotten about his family and always kept loyalty to them.
