Evgeny Ivanovich became a student at the machine tool factory in 1943. While serving in the army he studied at the Volsky aviation school and then served in Leninakan in the Transcaucasian military district. In the army he participated in amateur art activities.
In 1961 he graduated from Tbilisi Conservatory (singing department of V. Khmaladze). Even before the end of the Conservatory, he chose a new Voronezh theater of musical Comedy for the work (later the Opera house).
In 1961-1979 Evgeny Ivanovich was a soloist of the Voronezh Opera house, where he performed more than 40 roles in Opera performances and operettas. He had a voice of beautiful timbre, fine musicality and unusual stage presence. He possessed the skill of reincarnation, expressive plastic.
In 1979-1984 he was the director of the Voronezh Opera and ballet theatre. In 1972-1977 and since 1994 he worked as a teacher in the Voronezh Institute of arts. Among his the students are honored artist of the Russian Federation V. Sladkov, A. Anikin, V. Chibisov, A. Sodin.
In 1984-1986 he was the Executive Secretary of the regional organization of the Union of composers. In 1986-1992 he served as Director of the actor's House. Evgeny Ivanovich was also the Deputy Chairman of the Voronezh organization of the Union of Theatrical Figures (1992-1993).
