Fujiwara Korechika

Background

Fujiwara no Korechika was born in 974. He wa the son of Michitaka.

Career

He was appointed Minister of the Imperial Household in the reign of Emperor Ichijo. He competed with Michinaga, his uncle for the post of Kampaku (Adviser to the Emperor) but was defeated. He made his younger brother, Takaie, to shoot an arrow at Emperor Kazan. As punishment, he was demoted.
