Galina Anatolievna Polivanova was born on April 1, 1929, in Krasnoye Selo, Krasnoselsky district of the federal city of Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation.
Galina Anatolievna studied at the Odessa State Conservatory (now The Odessa National A. V. Nezhdanova Academy of Music) for her degree in opera, concert singer and teacher, which she graduated in 1953. In 1957 she received the jury award at the 6th World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow.
In 1966, Galina Anatolievna Polivanova worked at the Chechen-Ingush Philharmonic. From 1967 to 1971 she was a solo singer of Odessa theater of Opera and Voronezh theater of Opera. From 1972 to 1973 Galina Anatolievna was a solo singer of the Kazan theater of Opera and Minsk theater of Opera. In 1974 she began teaching. In 1976 Galina Anatolievna headed the department of solo singing at the Odessa Conservatory (now The Odessa National A. V. Nezhdanova Academy of Music). She was invited by Olga Nikolaevna Blagovidova, who considered that Galina Anatolievna would be able to preserve and develop the traditions of the Odessa vocal school.
