Gendo V Kiyokawa succeeded to the name of Gendo, though he called himself Shoken. He practiced medicine at Nihonbashi, Edo (1862), and after the Meiji Restoration (1868) when Western medicine began Rettinj popular, he persisted in the old Chinese method of treatment.
