Moving up the ladder as a sports functionary (in 1973-1975 he was elected deputy chairman of Moscow Council "Spartak", and from 1975 to 1980 he worked as a chief specialist of the Organizing Committee of the Olympics-80 and deputy mayor of the Olympic village), he continues his activities in the field of freestyle wrestling as an arbiter. Firstly he won the All-Union (1975), and then - the International category (1979). He is elected chairman of the All-Russian Collegium of Judges.
From 1980 to 1981 he worked as the general director of the sports complex of the Olympic Village. Since 1981 Gennady Petrovich has been transferred to work in the system of Moscow Executive Committee, and for 12 years he has been the deputy manager of the country economy of the main Moscow department. During this period of time he graduated from the Higher Economic Courses of the State Planning Committee of the USSR (1983-85) without resigning. At the same time Gennady Petrovich was elected chairman of the coaching council of the Moscow Fighting Federation. Under his leadership the national team of the capital took the second place at the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR. For this achievement he was awarded the highest sign of the USSR State Committee for Sports. In 1993 he returned to his work in the Olympic Village. He was appointed general director of the sports complex. Under his guidance were the children’s sports club "Olympiada" and the women's football team "Katyusha". On the basis of the sports complex of the Olympic village, works out one of the leaders of the world mini-football - Moscow team "Dina". The school number 714 with an emphasis on sambo is supported by the Olympic village. Since 1994 Gennady Petrovich headed the regional charitable social fund for social protection of athletes named after L.I. Yashin. Since 1995 the fund has become the organizer and executor, the sponsor of the athletics relay race on the Garden Ring for prizes of the newspaper "Evening Moscow".
In his spare time he likes to read books on history of Russia, the poetry of Pushkin and Esenin, listen to music by P.I. Tchaikovsky. His favorite film is "Nine Days of One Year" and his favorite artists - N. Cherkasov, S. Stolyarov, E. Leonov, N. Kryuchkov. Lives and works in Moscow.
