From 1916 he served in the French army. In 1919-1960 Georgiy Vasilievich lived in Belgium. Since 1930 he has been a priest. In 1933 he became a monk. Rector of Church of St. Great Martyr Panteleimon in Brussels (since 1940). Since 1953 - Bishop of Syracuse. Since 1960 - Archbishop of France and Western Europe, Exarch of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Rector of church named after St. Alexander Nevsky in Paris (since 1960). Participated in the work of the Theological Institute in Paris (1964-1973).
