Gregory Wayn received his Diploma of Education in 1974 at the State College of Victoria (now Victoria College) in Melbourne, Australia, and received his Diploma of Industrial Design in 1971 from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).
Gregory Wayn has been employed as a teacher in the Art Department of Victoria's Lalor Technical School since 1975. He usually works in medium format and his general photographic direction is that of landscape, both urban and country. Some images are abstractions of space, form, texture, and light, while others are metaphorical.
