In 1957, Guillermo Michel-Sinner graduated from the Institute Libre de Literature and received a Bachelor`s degree in Humanities, Puente Grande, Mexico. In 1964 he received a degree of Bachelor in Philosophy from the Institute Libre de Filosofia, Mexico City. Also in 1972 Michel-Sinner graduated from the Ibero-American University and received a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology, Mexico City and also obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from the Ibero-American University, Mexico City.
From 1960 to 1966 G. Michel-Sinner worked as a Professor at IDEC in Guadalajara, Mexico. He worked as a Chair of department, subordinate director at Center of Social Research and Action in Torreón, Mexico, 1966-1969. From 1969 to 1972 Michel-Sinner held a position of Chair of department at Grupo Monterrey in Mexico City.
G. Michel-Sinner was a Professor at National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1972-1974 and since 1974 until his death in 2007 he worked as a Professor at Metropolitan Autonomous University in Mexico City.
He also served as a civilian consultant to the Zapatista Army for National Liberation in Chiapas, Mexico, 1996.
Michel-Sinner was a former Jesuit, and believer in Liberation Theology.
Guillermo Michel-Sinner was a member of Mexican Association in Communications Research (president 1995) and of New York Academy of Social Sciences and Planetary Society.
Michel-Sinner was married to Virginia Luviano on December 23, 1970, whom he divorced on May 1983. His life partner was Erika Doring Gonzalez-Hermosillo (1984-2007).
