Gurgen Karapetyan graduated from the Yerevan Conservatory (in the early 1950s, a student of Professor K.S. Saradzhev). After graduation he began career of conductor.
Career
After graduation Karapetyan was a chief conductor of the Voronezh Symphony Orchestra (1955-1964). He toured with the orchestra in Moscow, Krasnodar, Tambov, Lipetsk, organized a series of concerts “Voronezh Summer”, introduced a subscription system of concerts. At the same time was a teacher at the Voronezh College of Music.
