Iosif Savvin was a Hegumen (1714), Archimandrite (1716) of Nikitsky Monastery in the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky. In 1721, one of the candidates for the Irkutsk bishop's department. In 1723 he was appointed head of the investigation of the Pakhomiy case (Ishpanovsky), then headed the burial ceremony. Iosif was an Assessor of the Inquisitorial Office (1724), Archimandrite of Moscow Savior-Andronikov Monastery (1724-1725). In 1726, he was sent to the 1st Department of the Synod. Since 1725, the Bishop of Voronezh and Yelets. He was last mentioned in Voronezh in August 1726.
