Gorski received a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Warsaw Technology University in 1971. Six years later, he graduated from Holy Cross Technology University in Kielce, Poland with a Doctor of Philosophy degree. In 1988, Gorski earned his Doctor of Science degree from Silesian Technology University in Gliwice, Poland.
Gorski began his career as a Designer of WSK PZL-Rzeszow in Poland at Aero-Engines Research Center in 1971. In 1974, he took a position of an Assistant at High Technology School in Rzeszow. In 1977, Jan Also became a Tutor at Rzeszow University of Technology and held it for twenty one year. He was a Visiting professor at National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1984.
Jan Gorski served as a Head of the department at Province Office in Rzeszow in 1994-1995. Since 1995, he has been a Vice president of City Government Team in Rzeszow.
Gorski has been working as a Professor at Rzeszow University of Technology, since 1998.
On December 9, 1985 Jan Gorski married Danuta Golinska Bilas-Gorska. They have 2 children.
