Joon Huang Chuah was born on May 25, 1976, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Joon Huang Chuah received his B.Eng. from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, M.Eng. from the National University of Singapore, M.Phil. in Technology Policy from the Cambridge Judge Business School, and Ph.D from the University of Cambridge.
Joon Huang Chuah graduated from Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge and Wolfson College, University of Cambridge.
Joon Huang Chuah is an alumnus of National University of Singapore.
Joon Huang Chuah joined Intel as an IC Design Engineer, contributing to the creation of next generation of network processors. He was then with Freescale Semiconductor (formerly Motorola, SPS) as a Senior Product Development Engineer and Senior Test Engineer, overseeing the product development and project execution of high-performance automotive microcontrollers. Carrying out extensive engineering works globally, he lived in and travelled frequently to various locations such as San Jose @ Silicon Valley, California, Austin, Texas, Suzhou, China, Hong Kong, etc. While working in the multi-national companies, he was a recipient of multiple Silicon Engineering Excellence Recognitions and Technical Excellence Award. At present, he lectures and conducts research at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya. He assumes the positions of Head of Programme for M.Eng. (Mechatronics) and Head of VLSI and Image Processing (VIP) Research Group.
