In the war of the Hogen Era (1156), Kageyoshi Oba followed Yoshitomo Minamoto and attacked the Shirakawa Palace in Kyoto. When Yoritomo Minamoto rose in arms against the Taira family (1180), he joined Yoritomo's army and defeated Yasuhira Fujiwara in the Ou District.
