He graduated from Tokyo University in 1890.
Career
After graduating from Tokyo Lniversity,in 1892 he was professor at Tokyo Higher Normal School , and at Peers School. Was also professor at Bunrika (Literature and Science) University in 1929. Was an authority on the Japanese language, and compiled ''Great Dictionary of Japanese Language.”
